Say NO To These Unhealthy Foods

Food has a major effect on your weight thus the right nutrition becomes very important. Some foods are weight loss friendly like eggs, coconut oil and full-fat yoghurt but other foods like refined and processed foods aid in weight gain. So here is a list of foods that one should be avoiding:

1. High Sugar Drinks: They contain a lot of calories and have negative effects on your overall health and also affect your weight. In order to lose weight, one should give up on these high-calorie liquid sugar drinks as they don’t provide any satiety and still makes you feel hungry.

2. Potato Chips: These are again very high-calorie foods and have been linked to weight gain. Switch to eating a whole potato instead.

3. Candy: They have a lot of added sugar, refined flour and oils to them. Low in nutrients and high in calories these candy bars are not at all filling and are extremely unhealthy.

4. Fruit Juice: They are loaded with sugar and are highly processed. They have no fibre content in comparison to eating a whole fruit so it’s best to consume whole fruits and not juices that are processed, high on sugar and contain no fibre.

5. Alcohol: It provides 7 calories per gram as compared to protein or carbohydrates that provide only 4 calories per gram. Although the type of alcohol matters a lot, for example, wine in moderation can be beneficial and beer causes weight gain.

6. Ice Cream: High on added sugar and calories.

7. Cakes, Cookies, pastries: They are low nutrient and high-calorie foods that contain high levels of added sugar and refined flour along with trans fats that are very harmful.

8. Pizza: The ones that are commercially made contains high calories due to highly refined flour and processed ingredients so switch to homemade versions of it.

9. High-Calorie Coffee: Coffee drinks contain artificial cream and so much added sugar and consuming empty calories without any nutrients leads to weight gain. Switch to black coffee as caffeine will help to increase fat burning and boost your metabolism to lose weight. Avoid adding high-calorie creamers and sugar.

10. Added Sugar:  Granola bars, breakfast cereals, flavoured yoghurts, especially for low fat and fat-free versions as a lot of sugar is added to such products to mask the lost flavour due to removal of fat.

In conclusion highly processed junk foods that consist of refined flour, added sugar and fats should be avoided while trying to lose weight. Read nutrition labels and keep a check on misleading health claims. Practice mindful eating and keep a check on your portion sizes. Monitor your food intake and make healthy choices to get the best results.
